POSITION SUMMARY
The EHS manager is responsible for creating and maintaining a comprehensive corporate environmental and health program. In addition, this position creates and maintains the safety program for the ECPD operation. The EHS manager ensures programs are in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements utilizing operator experience, and environmental contracted services to implement new concepts, compliance procedures, and improvements to the EHS management system and programs.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITITES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
Program Development & Implementation:
- Develop and maintain company-wide safety policies, procedures, and standards.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations.
- Collaborate with leadership to integrate safety into operational processes.
- Establish and coordinate effective systems and procedures for the security of our associates and facilities. Includes items such as alarm systems, emergency plans, entry/ egress systems.
Training & Education:
- Plan and conduct safety training for all employees, including new hire , job-specific safety procedures, and annual refresher training.
- Maintain training records and ensure certifications (e.g., forklift, LOTO, etc.) are current.
Inspections & Audits:
- Conduct regular safety inspections.
- Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead internal audits and assist in regulatory inspections or third-party audits.
Incident Management:
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and corrective actions.
- Maintain incident records and generate reports for management review.
- Lead the implementation of corrective and preventative measures.
- Manage Worker’s Compensation treatment and submit claims to third-party administrator for processing. Participate in quarterly claims review and communicate claim status updates to operations leadership teams.
- Develop reports, documentation of material evidence, and participate in preparation for litigation and insurance inquiries with the organization’s representation.
Risk Management & Compliance:
- Develop risk assessments and safety plans for each bulk wire site.
- Monitor and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety systems.
- Maintain and submit required safety reports and documentation to regulatory agencies.
Environmental
- Work with outside resources to manage Environmental calendar, reporting and compliance.
- Facilitate and accompany third-party and regulatory officials during corporate environmental and health inspection audits.
- Owns and manages the ISO14001 certified Environmental Mgmt. System (EMS). Ensures that policies are being executed as documented and that the system is delivering the desired results.
Culture & Engagement:
- Promote a proactive safety culture through leadership engagement, employee involvement, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as a resource and coach for supervisors and employees on safety-related matters.
- Organize and lead safety toolbox meetings.
EDUCATION
B.S. degree in Occupational Safety and Hygiene Management or related field.
EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years EH&S experience. 3 in a leadership capacity
- EH&S experience in an industrial setting
