Our client is seeking an Engineering Lead – AI & Automation to pioneer the next wave of intelligent technology and automation. This role offers the chance to build a new engineering function from the ground up — transforming how AI and automation drive innovation, efficiency, and smarter ways of working.

The Engineering Lead will blend technical leadership with creative problem-solving, assembling a world-class team and delivering intelligent automation systems that redefine productivity and scale. It’s an opportunity to build the foundation of something entirely new.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Growth

• Establish and grow a high-performing team of engineers and AI specialists focused on automation and intelligent workflows.
• Define the team’s mission, structure, and long-term roadmap.
• Foster a collaborative, curious, and inclusive culture where innovation thrives.
• Mentor and guide team members to support both technical and personal growth.

Technology & Delivery

• Identify, prioritize, and execute automation opportunities across technical and operational domains.
• Architect scalable automation solutions using AI models, workflow orchestration tools, and agent-based systems.
• Lead by example in maintaining engineering excellence — through reviews, documentation, and hands-on problem-solving.
• Manage end-to-end project delivery, from concept to deployment, ensuring high-quality and impactful outcomes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to seamlessly integrate automation into existing systems and platforms.

Required Experience

• 5+ years in software engineering, including at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
• Strong foundation in software development, applied AI/ML, and process automation.
• Proficient in Python, with experience building production-level AI or automation solutions.
• Hands-on experience with RPA, orchestration tools, or modern AI frameworks (LLM or agent-based).
• Proven ability to lead teams, set technical direction, and deliver complex projects in agile environments.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
• Fluent in English; German skills are a plus.
• Valid work authorization within the EU.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable operating in fast-moving and evolving environments.
• Interest or experience in quantum technologies or adjacent emerging tech domains.
