Location: Beverly, MA (01915)
Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1st Shift (hours TBD)
Salary: $100,000 – $135,000
About the Opportunity
A growing and innovative engineering organization is seeking a hands-on Engineering Lab Manager to lead operations within a newly developed laboratory facility. This is a high-impact role supporting the expansion of technical capabilities and driving strategic growth.
We’re looking for a detail-oriented, safety-focused leader who enjoys working side-by-side with engineers and technicians while building out lab processes, capabilities, and team structure.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Lab Operations
- Oversee daily testing operations within the engineering lab
- Lead and mentor engineers and technicians in a hands-on environment
- Ensure safe and compliant lab practices
- Develop lab capabilities including equipment, processes, and staffing aligned with company growth
Testing & Technical Execution
- Design and build test setups and fixtures
- Develop Qualification Test Procedures (QTPs)
- Perform mechanical and electrical testing
- Analyze test results, identify failures, and conduct root cause analysis
- Drive design improvements based on findings
- Implement automated data acquisition systems where applicable
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Participate in design reviews and engineering discussions
- Implement corrective actions and continuous improvements
- Standardize verification and validation processes
- Collaborate with global lab teams across international locations
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience leading teams in a lab or testing environment
- Hands-on laboratory testing and lab development experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Experience with data acquisition hardware and software
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Qualifications
- Experience with electromechanical testing to industry/military standards (MIL-STD, DO-160, EIA, IEC)
- Background in environmental, mechanical, and electrical testing
- Familiarity with CAD tools such as Creo or SolidWorks
- Knowledge of rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent hands-on experience
