Engineering Field Technician

Job DescriptionJob DescriptionCatawba Valley Engineering & Testing is looking for an Engineering Field Technician. This position will perform field testing, sampling, observations and inspections of construction materials at active construction sites.

Duties included:
* Construction Materials Testing services - performing field or laboratory testing on concrete, masonry, soils, asphalt, aggregate, structural steel, fireproofing, and other testing as required
* Perform mathematical calculations
* Data reduction of test results
* Field and Laboratory duties
* Administrative duties

Requirements:
* Minimum of high school diploma or GED equivalent
* Strong verbal and written communication
* At least 21 years of and have/maintain a clean driving record in order to operate the company vehicle
* Physically able to lift up to 100lbs during various work activities with most of it being team lifts due to weight and shape
* Ideal candidate will have prior Construction Materials Testing/Special Inspection experience

Candidates may be exposed to adverse conditions including extreme hot/cold temperatures, wet/humid conditions, and noisy conditions/environments requiring personal protection equipment (provided by CVET).

Qualified candidates must be available to work varied hours as well as be available for overtime as needed.
