At Piper, we're seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join our team. As an , you'll receive experience in installation of hardware on light rail vehicles. You will learn technical documentation skills, testing support and safety and compliance. But that is not all you will receive mentorship from experienced professionals in the field. The opportunity to contribute to real world projects with meaningful impact and various internal testing frameworks.
You will be required to work a schedule of Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm on site in our Everett office in Boston. We are offering $25.00 per hour; this position is available part time during school semester with possibility of going full time during the summer.

Candidate Requirements
- Currently pursuing an Associate or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of DC circuits, sensors, and wiring.
- Comfortable using hand tools and measuring instruments.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn from senior staff.
- US work authorization required; must be able to access MBTA facilities.

Installation Assistance
- Support the installation of carborne hardware such as sensors, processors, antennas, and harnesses on Type 7, 8, and 9 light-rail vehicles.
- Help route and secure cables, apply labels, and prepare installation kits.
- Observe and assist technicians in mechanical mounting and electrical terminations.
Technical Documentation
- Update installation checklists and as-built diagrams.
- Photograph and catalog completed assemblies.
- Assist in tracking materials, tools, and inventory used per vehicle.
Testing Support
- Assist with continuity and functional checks using multimeters or test jigs.
- Record test data under the supervision of qualified technicians or engineers.
Safety and Compliance
- Follow all MBTA yard safety rules and PPE requirements.
- Attend daily toolbox talks and hazard briefings.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Creating installation plans for Piper products on clients' vehicles and structures.
- Creating and managing orders with manufacturers to fabricate Piper products successfully.
- Having foresight in creating designs that are adaptable and scalable, accommodating potential modifications without significant rework.
