Toole Design Group in Denver, CO is looking to hire an experienced and talented full-time Engineering Director to oversee and expand our practice. The Engineering Director will lead a talented team of engineers who work on challenging multimodal projects that make communities more livable. Successful candidates will enjoy big-picture strategic thinking, leading and building teams, pursuing and winning work, and exceeding client expectations.

A Day in the Life of the Engineering Director

In a constantly evolving industry, you'll play a key role in delivering creative solutions to complex projects. As part of the leadership team in Colorado and the West, you will help develop and implement strategies for marketing, business development, and regional growth. You'll help identify key pursuits, crafting client outreach plans, and building strong relationships throughout Colorado. You'll also oversee the performance of our most important multimodal design projects, ensuring that each one meets Toole Design's high standards for quality. Your knowledge of local government authorities, decision-makers, advocates, and standards and procedures in the Colorado Front Range will be key to your success.

We are targeting a salary range of $150,000 to $190,000 for this position. Candidates with more years of experience or exceptional qualifications may fall into a different pay range.

Qualifications for the Engineering Director:

  • Colorado PE license and local/regional consulting experience
  • At least 15 years of engineering experience in conceptual design, alternatives analysis, developing construction documents, and/or public agency construction administration with a focus on streetscapes and multimodal projects
  • At least 10 years serving in a project and/or design management role
  • At least 10 years of experience with marketing and business development and a proven ability to develop and maintain client relationships
  • A broad knowledge base in civil or transportation engineering, with specific experience in street design and proficiency in CADD
  • Experience supporting local agencies and jurisdictions with CDOT permitting and project coordination

Work Schedule for an Engineering Director

This full-time position typically works a hybrid schedule of 40 hours a week, with the full team in the office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and the flexibility to work from home up to two days a week. The Denver office of Toole Design is conveniently located in downtown Denver, just blocks from Union Station and Civic Center Station. The office is easily accessed on foot, by bicycle, and via transit.
