Ready to kick-start your future in engineering? \n\nJoin us as an Electrical Engineer Apprentice and you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting the UK’s largest water and wastewater provider. Work with skilled engineers on plant design, environmental considerations, and risk identification, investigation, and mitigation, while earning a Level 6 Product Design Development in Engineering qualification to launch your long-term career. \n \nWhat you’ll be doing as an Electrical Engineering Apprentice: \n\nShape Project Definition Briefs by defining key technical requirements \nPlay a vital role in ensuring Electrical assets meet regulatory and compliance standards \nGain hands-on experience in the engineering and environmental aspects of plant design and delivery \nTackle real-world challenges in risk identification, investigation, and mitigation \nBe part of Electrical teams driving Thames Water’s AMP8 ambitions to 2030 and beyond \nLearn on the job with tailored training and mentorship from senior engineers Where you’ll work: \n\nLocation: Clearwater Court Reading RG1 8DB- Hybrid \n\nHours: 36-hour week over four working days plus one training day \n\nStart date: September 2026 \n\nTraining and qualification: You’ll study with Newbury University, a leading UK engineering training provider, with one day per week of on-campus learning. \n\nQualification achieved: Level 6 Apprenticeship Standard in Product Design Development in Engineering- HNC/HND & BSc (Hons) or BEng (Hons) in Engineering \n\nDuration: Permanent contract with a 48 month structured programme \n \nWhat you should bring to the role \n\n5 GCSE’s including Maths and English (grade 9-4 / A-C) \n3 A-Levels grade C or above including a Technical or Engineering subject \nTravel required across Thames Water sites \nGood time management and communication skills \nAble to work well in a team and independently What’s in it for you? \n\nExcellent salary: £23,500 annum \nAnnual Leave: 24 days holiday per year increasing to 28 with the length of service (plus bank holidays) \nPerformance-related pay plan directly linked to company performance measures and targets \nGenerous Pension Scheme through AON \nAccess to lots of benefits to help you take care of you and your family’s health and wellbeing, and your finances – from annual health MOTs and access to physiotherapy and counselling, to Cycle to Work schemes, shopping vouchers and life assurance.
