Objective/Job Purpose: Prepares cost estimates and analysis by analyzing Prints and requirements-Interacting with customers daily.
Role and Responsibility:
- Prepares work to be cost estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
- Works with engineers to identify processes and tooling that may be required to produce the product being cost estimated.
- Identifies labor, material, and time requirements using blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
- Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, outside processes, and time requirements.
- Presents prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
- Creates quote responses and submits them to the Sales department.
- Analyzes completed jobs to compare quoted labor time, material, and outside processes.
- Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Maintains quote log by entering and backing up data.
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications, as required.
- Calls suppliers to obtain material pricing.
- Contacts customers to obtain specifications, CAD models, additional drawings, as necessary.
- Work closely with the engineers to resolve/clarify print discrepancies.
- Prepares Risk Analysis and chairs meetings solicit input from Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Materials.
- Performs Customer Service tasks including, but not limited to: Checking customer Portals/Reviewing customer orders and demand/Communicating with the customer on order status and open issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High School Diploma
- 2 year Technical/engineering degree
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ of experience in manufacturing estimating or engineering.
- Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in a customer service role or related customer interaction role
- Experience in metal working manufacturing environment desired.
- MS Office (including Word and Excel).
- AutoCAD/Inventor 3D experience required.
- Rollform, press brake, and welding estimating experience desired.
