Engineering Assistant
Job description
We are recruiting for an Engineering Assistant to join an employee-owned business. This hybrid role offers a great opportunity to work closely with the Engineering Manager and collaborate across departments including Sales, Design, Purchasing, and Production, as well as with suppliers and customers. You will help maintain engineering documentation, support continuous improvement projects, and play a vital role in delivering high-quality technical support.
£30,000 per annum
Hybrid working: 3 days office / 2 days work from home
38.5 hours per week
Key Responsibilities:
Support the delivery of accurate and timely engineering documentation, ensuring compliance with company standards
Maintain registers and drawings within the MRP system, ensuring all parts and assemblies are standardized and up to date
Liaise effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to capture and clarify engineering requirements
Manage drawing approvals and maintain detailed records of documentation status
Assist with assembly drawings and coordinate their submission to Production
Work closely with the Engineering Manager on continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives
Administer document control systems and support quality, health & safety, and environmental standards
Essential Qualifications & Knowledge:
Level 3 or 4 qualification in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (desirable)
Experience with 2D drawing software ()
Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications, especially Excel and Word
Skills:
Strong attention to detail with good numeracy skills
Ability to interpret technical and customer requirements
Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong organizational and time management skills
Problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn
