Flexible, part-time, compressed and part-year working can be applied to this roleJOB OVERVIEWA rewarding opportunity is available for a machining professional to share practical expertise as the Engineering Apprentice Trainer while shaping future engineering talent.Based in an on-site training workshop, the Engineering Apprentice Trainer develops apprentices in manual and CNC machining, programming and professional shop floor behaviours, while supporting progress into supervised machine shop work.Working closely with managers and the training provider, the Engineering Apprentice Trainer supports progress reviews, mentoring and recruitment while promoting engineering careers through visits, placements and careers events.DUTIESYour duties as the Engineering Apprentice Trainer include:Practical Workshop Supervision: Supervise apprentices using manual and CNC lathes and milling machines, hand tools and inspection equipmentMachining Instruction: Teach manual machining, online and offline programming, basic setting principles, drawing interpretation, tolerances, GD&T, tooling selection, bench work and measurementTraining Task Development: Develop practical tasks and organise materials and instructions for apprentices producing in-house components, including workholdingProduction Work Oversight: Oversee apprentices working on production componentsApprentice Recruitment Support: Support senior managers with apprentice recruitment and selectionProgress Review and Liaison: Review training plans and progress with college or training-provider assessors and share apprentice updatesPerformance and Mentoring Support: Support senior colleagues with apprentice performance matters, mentor apprentices and encourage mentoring by othersEngineering Careers Outreach: Host school, college, university and other group visits, attend careers events, host work experience placements and support apprentices as engineering ambassadorsManagement System Compliance: Deliver training in line with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems and processesCANDIDATE REQUIREMENTSESSENTIALExcellent knowledge of manual and CNC machining and mechanical engineering principlesUnderstanding of engineering drawings, GD&T and manufacturing documentationUnderstanding of manual measurement equipmentSkilled in programming and CAD/CAMKnowledge of tooling, workholding and cutting technologyGood communication skills, with an approachable, positive style and the ability to give constructive feedbackDESIRABLEWorking knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety and ISO 14001 Environmental Management SystemsPrevious experience training othersBENEFITSFlexible working arrangementsContinuous learning and professional developmentSubsidised canteenHealth cash planLife assurancePension schemeFree on-site parking and cycle storageSocial events, recognition schemes and long-service awardsHOW TO APPLYTo be considered for this job vacancy, please submit your CV to our Recruitment Team who will review your details.
