Job DescriptionOur client is a well-established and highly respected structural steel fabrication and construction business, supplying and erecting fabricated steelwork across the UK and Ireland. Due to continued expansion, they are seeking an Engineer with an Electrical/Mechanical Bias to join their busy Workshop team.This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced Engineer to join a growing and ambitious business, working closely with the Maintenance Manager to support the safe and efficient operation of machinery and plant equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for fault finding, repairs, preventative maintenance and fabrication, playing an important role in supporting the smooth running of the Workshop.Engineer (Electrical/Mechanical) - Position Remuneration£40,000 - £45,000 depending on experienceMonday to Friday, full-time, workshop-basedKey role within a growing and ambitious structural steel contractorPrivate healthcare and additional employee benefitsSalary sacrifice pension schemeEmployee discounts and company benefitsEngineer (Electrical/Mechanical) - Position OverviewFault find and repair breakdowns on machinery and plant equipment, including drills, blasters, saws, conveyors, welding units and overhead cranesCarry out preventative maintenance including cleaning, lubricating and adjusting equipment in line with the maintenance planMaintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including inspection reports, repair logs and equipment performance dataCarry out safety checks and risk assessments and implement appropriate safety measuresEnsure maintenance activities are completed in line with relevant regulations, codes and industry best practicesEnsure safe systems of work are adhered to during all maintenance works, including COSHH assessmentsCollaborate with the wider team to coordinate maintenance activities and resolve complex issuesCommunicate effectively with team members and stakeholders regarding maintenance plans, updates and any concernsIdentify opportunities to improve equipment performance, energy efficiency and cost effectivenessFabricate and fit parts as required for repairs and maintenance to plant equipmentMake and assemble fabricated parts into complete units, ensuring correct alignment and functionalityReport any issues to the Maintenance ManagerLead by example and promote safe working practices, following procedures and wearing the correct PPE / RPE as requiredEngineer (Electrical/Mechanical) - Position RequirementsRecognised trade apprenticeship or relevant Engineering qualification and experiencePrevious experience within an Engineering or Maintenance environmentExperience with Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Welding, Turning and Electrical systems would be beneficialExperience with Overhead Cranes and IPAF would be advantageousExcellent problem-solving and fault-finding skillsGood communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work effectively both independently and as part of a teamConscientious, hardworking, flexible and safety awareAbility to work to tight deadlines and prioritise workload effectivelyProactive approach with a willingness to identify opportunities for improvementPrevious experience within a structural steel or construction environment would be advantageousStreamline Search is a technical recruitment agency based in Chichester, West Sussex operating across the United Kingdom.
