Job Description
Our Engineering team is actively seeking a motivated Engineer to join O&R's Distribution Engineering Department.Our analytical work focuses on designing project specific work for distribution engineering in the clean energy/new business installations discipline requiring considerable individual judgment. The work involves reviewing incoming new distribution installs requests for completeness and the satisfaction of all Company and industrial standards requirements. The Engineer will be responsible for developing interconnection designs for all new clean energy and new business projects along with completing individual project specifications and material requirements. Other functions include receiving and analyzing responses to requests for information to support engineering review, scheduling inspections, tracking, and communicating inspection outcomes, creating and issuing reports to energize installations, and other project management functions. Provides analytical support for various operations groups throughout the Company. The Engineer will perform these responsiblities under general supervision of the Chief Distribution Engineer of Distribution Engineering. Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
Under general guidelines, will project manage as well as organize, schedule, and assign work activities related to customer service installations to personnel to meet operating needs, customer service requirements and departmental goals. These tasks may require the coordination of efforts among customers, their contractors and consulting engineers.
As an Engineer, you will work with a team of engineers to developing plans and specifications for underground electric interconnections for clean energy and new business installations up to 35kV, and provide necessary oversight on the construction of these facilities.
Ensures safe work practices are followed, as well as environmental considerations in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations.
Reviews all customer PV and EV requests to verify accuracy and completeness for connection to the Companys distribution system.
Supports the coordination for underground projects with internal departments to ensure that projects are completed per specifications, on time, and within approved budgets.
Represents the Company at meetings with customers, contractors, governmental officials, consulting engineers, lawyers and other Company personnel regarding electric service and distribution, method of supply and feasibility to ensure compliance with Company procedures and specifications.
Attend staff and team meetings and provide any necessary updates.
Reviews progress of various projects to ensure their completion in a timely and professional manner.
Maintain all applicable records, and provide all necessary information to the Distribution team so that the company reporting requirements are met.
Develop work procedures and/or general specifications that are clear and well-organized documentation.
Participates in the Companys emergency management processes and storm plans as required.
Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 3-5 year's experience in an engineering. Engineering work experience in an engineering or project management/ construction capacity.
Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree Electrical Engineering
Relevant Work Experience
Must be proactive and flexible; a highly motivated, self-starter, with the ability to understand and deal with technical issues as well as assess customer and Company safety issues associated with distribution new installs. Required
Proficient in Microsoft Office products Required
Should be familiar with applicable State and Federal regulations. Required
Exercise good judgment and render sound decisions Required
Demonstrate a positive work ethic in support of the Companys Corporate Values and Missions Required
Excellent oral and written communication skills Required
Well organized, detail orientated and flexible to handle multiple assignments and deadlines.
Ability to effectively interact with customers, support staff, and various levels of management.
Ability to draft, edit and proofread memos, presentations and board reports as required.
Work experience conducting engineering projects, design, studies, and interconnections of various clean energy/new business projects.
