Job Description;
Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
Complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines.
Provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.
Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
Contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects. Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources.
Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
Basic Qualifications
5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD.

At the discretion of the department, part-time telework may become an option.
This position is for a senior electrical engineer in the SSN(X) Propulsion Components section. Specifically, the groups tasking is to develop another Turbine Generator (TG) supplier for the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP) for use on various platforms. The electrical engineer will have primary responsibility for aspects of the various TG controls systems. The ideal candidate will have direct engineering experience with rotating machinery, generators, power electronics, instrumentation and control, component fabrication/assembly, component testing, system-level testing, military specs and standards, technical writing, or demonstrate the ability to rapidly learn these subject areas. Familiarity with NNL Generic I&C, NG-P/CS Building Blocks, or other I&C hardware-software interface structures would be beneficial.
