Energy & Sustainability Specialist

As a result of increased and significant growth Digital Catapult is looking to supplement their Business Development team with the addition of a skilled Energy and Sustainability Specialist to develop new opportunities and drive growth in key energy sector accounts. In this varied and exciting role, you will be responsible for helping to deliver value to clients in existing projects, supporting the growth of a pipeline of revenue generating projects from existing and new accounts, ensuring deals are efficiently closed and providing domain expertise to the internal Digital Catapult teams. This will involve significant engagement with the Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF) programme, working closely with the energy networks and other key stakeholders.

You will have a proven track record of working closely with major clients to understand their wider requirements and develop new opportunities aimed at growing our pipeline of digital transformation projects and programmes. You will be able to engage with customers in large strategic activities to support a net zero transition in collaboration with the Catapult.

This role is accountable for ensuring deals are efficiently closed and providing account management expertise to the internal Digital Catapult teams.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Act as a subject matter expert within the Energy & Utilities sector, bringing knowledge of the key players and challenges in industry
  • Support the successful delivery of technology and innovation projects within the energy sector by developing close relationships with client stakeholders and providing domain expertise
  • Manage and grow existing industry accounts within the energy sector, with a view to doubling the pipeline the current revenue from these clients within 12 months, and 4x the number of projects
  • Work with existing & potential new contacts within key accounts
  • Drive new best practice account management processes within the BD team and the wider organisation
  • Work with the account owner to undertake regular reviews with customers to agree key objectives that will maximise opportunities and future account development
  • Examine industry specific needs within our target industry practices and introduce new points of contacts from within large accounts to services & capabilities on offer


Requirements

  • Track record of developing and closing commercial opportunities, with values over £250k
  • Able to demonstrate Energy & Utilities sector know-how and understanding of the technology/ business landscape, ecosystem, value chain and future trends. A good understanding of the network operations role (gas/electricity) would be beneficial.
  • Able to demonstrate Energy & Utilities sector know-how and understanding of the technology/ business landscape, ecosystem, value chain and future trends
  • Experience in developing large strategic deals, over £2m in value
  • Good grasp of the financial case for investments in digital technology and data, and what future business models for the Energy & Utilities sector might look like
  • Understanding and experience of using digital technologies and data to transform business practices within the sector and increase insight
  • Experience of working with executives and senior management within the Energy & Utilities sector
  • Understanding and experience of using digital technologies and data to transform business practices and increase insight
