About the role
GX is seeking a full-time energy analyst to join the Index group, reporting to the Pricing Director. The analyst will -
· Learn or build on their knowledge around the basics of commodity trading and the price assessment process
· Develop expertise in energy markets, towards gaining “thought leadership” credentials within those markets
· Play a role in ensuring GX data supports the global energy transition
· Develop/strengthen programming skills to drive forward the GX mission to make energy benchmark creation truly “tech native”
· Play a role in the wider mission of encouraging the market to adopt GX benchmarks
Typical daily activities will include:
- Taking on primary responsibility for daily benchmark creation for specific markets, ensuring quality control of the calculations and ensure these are in line with official methodology
External engagement:
- Developing/maintaining dialogue with traders and brokers in the relevant markets, ensuring GX methodology remains relevant and data quality is assured
- Engaging with market participants to collect price-moving market intelligence
- Working with the Sales team to “socialise” GX data in the market and encourage its adoption/utilisation
- Identifying new markets for GX entry, and if approved, driving forward the development and socialisation of benchmarks in these new markets
- Generating written analytical content on ad-hoc basis
- Contributing towards GX webinars and or/podcast content as needed
Skills and Experience
· Relevant degree/qualification that demonstrates experience and learning suitable for this role.
· Demonstrable interest in commodities, energy or financial markets
· High level of numerical ability
· Accuracy and attention to detail
· Proficient working with Excel
. Python/similar coding skills
· Ability to work as part of a team
· Naturally curious and solution-driven
· Strong communication skills and the ability to present as needed in a clear and articulate way.
