We are offering an opportunity focused on the development of test protocols for characterization of degradation of polymeric materials applied in hydrogen technologies. The selected candidate will work on the design of experiments, identification of suitable characterization techniques, and data analysis directed at monitoring the degradation of several classes of polymeric materials (e.g., ion-exchange membranes, elastomeric sealings, thermoplastic composites). In parallel, the candidate will support the definition of test protocols, coordinate experimental results, and integrate findings with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities on AEM stack design.

This will provide hands-on experience in materials characterization, degradation analysis, and data-driven problem solving in the field of sustainable hydrogen technologies.

As an , you will be responsible for:

  • Support the development and optimization of test protocols for assessing degradation mechanisms in polymeric materials used in hydrogen applications
  • Design and execute experimental plans for material characterization under relevant operating conditions
  • Perform data collection, processing, and analysis from laboratory testing activities
  • Utilize analytical and characterization techniques to evaluate material properties, performance, and aging behavior
  • Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations related to material degradation and AEM stack performance
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams involved in materials development, electrochemistry, and stack engineering
  • Contribute to technical reports, test procedures, data dashboards, and documentation of experimental results
  • Assist in benchmarking material performance and identifying opportunities for performance and durability improvements

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
  • Basic knowledge of polymeric materials, electrochemistry, or hydrogen technologies is considered a plus
  • Familiarity with laboratory characterization techniques and data analysis tools
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and Design of Experiments (DoE) methodologies is an advantage
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Interest in advanced materials, degradation mechanisms, and sustainable energy technologies

The fixed allowance for this position will be between this range: 600 - 1000 € gross monthly.

The allowance will be established in accordance with criteria related to the candidate’s academic status and their distance from the workplace.
