This is an automation-first role.


Location: Waterbeach, Cambridge (Fully On-site)

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £50,000 to £65,000


The Role

Working within the Electronics Verification team, you will take responsibility for evolving existing manual hardware test campaigns into streamlined, software-driven processes.

You’ll collaborate closely with electronics, RF, and baseband engineers to validate and characterise new hardware platforms spanning multiple radio technologies.


What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Performing hands-on electronics testing on prototype and development-stage hardware.
  • Converting structured manual test cases into dependable automated workflows.
  • Developing and maintaining Python-based automation frameworks and reusable test libraries.
  • Interfacing with lab instruments via SCPI, VISA, serial, USB, and Ethernet protocols.
  • Capturing, analysing, and validating measurement data.
  • Producing structured reports and improving traceability of results.
  • Recording defects and automation progress in Jira.



Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Strong proficiency in Python programming.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering automation at hardware, integration, or system level.
  • Experience controlling laboratory equipment programmatically.
  • Solid software engineering discipline, including:
  • Version control (Git)
  • Structured, maintainable code
  • Logging and debugging practices
  • Ability to methodically interpret manual test documentation and translate it into automation logic.
  • Comfortable operating in a lab-based, hardware-focused environment.


Desirable Experience:

  • Exposure to embedded systems or electronics verification.
  • Familiarity with LTE, TETRA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or GNSS technologies.
  • Experience with RF measurement or radio systems.
  • Knowledge of Robot Framework or comparable automation frameworks.
  • Experience integrating automated tests within CI/CD environments.
  • Working knowledge of measurement equipment such as spectrum analysers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and power supplies.
