Embedded Electronics Design Engineer

Salary: £55,000 DOE + profit-related bonus & benefits
A specialist engineering organisation delivering advanced electro-mechanical and embedded systems is seeking an experienced Embedded Electronics Design Engineer to join its multidisciplinary team.
This hands-on role involves designing, developing, and supporting electronic systems across the full product lifecycle, from concept through to end-of-life, working closely with software and mechanical engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Capture specifications and work to existing technical requirements
Select and evaluate appropriate electronic technologies
Develop schematics, perform circuit simulations, and conduct peer reviews
Design PCBs using Altium or similar software and conduct layout reviews
Write technical reports, test specifications, and documentation
Support verification testing and formal qualification of designs
Provide production support, including fault finding and documentation
Manage component obsolescence and lifecycle issues
Undertake occasional UK travel for customer or supplier visits Experience & Skills
Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience (CID/CID+ or CEng advantageous)
Experience in electronics design and development, including electro-mechanical systems
Knowledge of control systems, servo systems, and control loops
PCB design and simulation (Altium, SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink)
Familiarity with embedded C/C++ and application C++/C# advantageous
Understanding of EMC, MIL-STD 461/810, DSP, and data acquisition desirable
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and mathematical skills
