We are seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Electronic Security Design Engineer to support the design and implementation of advanced security solutions for commercial facilities. This role will involve collaborating with internal teams and external clients to create comprehensive security system designs, including video surveillance and access control. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing turnkey security solutions, managing project documentation, and working with industry-standard tools and software.

RequirementsKey Responsibilities:

  • Support internal teams and clients with expert knowledge in video surveillance and access control design.

  • Perform site surveys and job field observations to gather project requirements.

  • Attend design coordination meetings and document meeting minutes.

  • Prepare detailed design packages, including floor plans, RCPs (Reflected Ceiling Plans), elevations, mounting details, and other necessary drawings.

  • Generate designs using Revit, Visio, and D-Tools.

  • Assist project managers in the preparation of submittals, RFI’s, change orders, and as-built documentation.

  • Ensure all security designs are aligned with client requirements, budget, and industry standards.

  • Actively pursue industry certifications and stay updated with evolving technology.

  • Collaborate with the project management and field teams to ensure projects are completed on time.

  • Track project activities and expenses using service management systems.

  • Promote the company’s core values and adhere to safety policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Systems Engineering Technology, Industrial Distribution, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial security design with a focus on access control systems.

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating previous security design work.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CAD applications.

  • Expertise in creating construction documents and specifications.

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to ensure accuracy and completeness of Bill of Materials (BOM).

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Certifications:

  • Certifications in Access Control Systems from manufacturers such as Avigilon, Axis, or Genetec are a plus.

Additional Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of network protocols and networked security system design.

  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.

  • Familiarity with building codes, electrical codes, and OSHA regulations.

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical individuals.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • A positive attitude and commitment to service excellence.

  • Ability to handle stressful situations effectively.

  • A clean driving record and willingness to travel as needed (occasional overnight stays).

Work Environment:

  • The role primarily involves work in a professional office environment, with occasional visits to construction sites or client locations.

  • Physical demands include standing, sitting, bending, kneeling, and walking during site visits. The employee must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required on job sites.
