Job Summary:
The Electronic Engineer/Technologist’s primary responsibility is to manage the preparation and complete production packages including bills of material, shop operations, manufacturing drawings from applications to production including schematic diagrams and system designs. This position is also expected to support sales, provide cost estimates, initiate engineering drawing revisions, oversee equipment testing, and design customization.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Preparation of design calculations and engineering detail drawings (ie. design and production) either manually or on a computerized drafting and design system.
- Accurate entry of new part numbers and shop operations.
- Preparation and/or revision of general assembly and production drawings, bills of material and technical manuals.
- Costing and preliminary design layouts for field sales.
- Maintaining drawing libraries.
- Provide guidance and direction to purchasing materials and subcontractor selection.
- Providing technical support to shop personnel.
- Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value
- Attend meetings and update others on issues or concerns, when there is a risk which could prevent the organization meeting customer demands or where there are capability concerns.
- Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and keep up good communications.
- Develop design and manufacturing solutions for the electronic interface/control of the mechanical proprieties of the equipment.
- Other duties as specified by the Engineering Manager.
Requirements:
- Physical:

- Mathematical: Advanced Math, including geometry and trigonometry.

- Requires daily communication with multiple departments to ensure maximum efficiency
- Self-Starter
Education & Skills:
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical/Electronic Engineering with 2 years’ minimum experience with rotating equipment and related actuating controls.
- Strong electrical aptitude, good drafting ability, knowledge of GD&T, good working knowledge of manufacturing processes
- Ability to generate accurate 3D solid models and 2D drawings
- Working knowledge of computer applications such as ERP, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, spreadsheets, and word processing.
- Demonstrate attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness.
- Human relations and oral and written communication skills required for working closely with engineering, manufacturing, shop floor, and sales personnel.
- Good organizational skills
- Self-starter and can work independently or in teams effectively
- Ability to recognize drawing and manufacturing improvements with Engineering Change Requests (ECR’s)
Experience:
- 2+ years in a manufacturing environment in a similar role
- PLC programming
- Sound technical knowledge and understanding of rotating equipment
- Technical knowledge of integrated solutions for electronic controls and their interfaces.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks or other 2D & 3D modeling software.
- Experience with SYSPRO or other ERP software.
