Ideal for candidates with strong hardware and firmware design skills and a track record of developing commercial products.\n\nWho You Are\n\nWe’re seeking a motivated engineer with a passion for embedded software and electronics design.\n\n• Enjoy writing code, simulating circuits, and working with discrete components\n\n• Are methodical, organized, and take pride in quality work\n\n• Thrive on debugging and root cause analysis\n\n• Can develop code from scratch or build on existing codebases\n\n• Value documentation and collaborative problem-solving\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n• Own the full lifecycle of electronics development—from concept to production\n\n• Design, develop, and test embedded firmware and hardware for commercial products\n\n• Lead EMC testing, including lab visits and rapid iteration\n\n• Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies into next-gen products\n\n• Maintain complete design documentation (schematics, BOMs, PCB files, source code)\n\n• Troubleshoot faults across code, components, and systems\n\n• Improve existing designs for performance, cost, and reliability\n\n• Support quality, repair, and customer service teams\n\n• Collaborate with external contractors to deliver high-quality solutions\n\nSkills & Competencies\n\nEssential:\n\n• Experience designing electronic circuits and embedded software for commercial products\n\n• Proficient in schematic capture and PCB layout (Mentor Graphics PADS )\n\n• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail\n\n• Hands-on hardware design experience including:\n\n• Transistor-level circuits\n\n• Low-power DC-DC SMPS (<50W)\n\n• LED drive circuits\n\n• High-speed microcontroller comms (SPI, USB, etc.)\n\n• Analog signal processing for microcontroller input\n\n• Prototyping skills: fine-pitch soldering, lab equipment use (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer)\n\n• Bare-metal and RTOS development in C\n\n• Deep understanding of microcontroller peripherals and low-level driver development\n\n• Ability to write clean, reusable, non-blocking code\n\n• Familiarity with IoT technologies and protocols (Wi-Fi, BLE, MQTT)\n\n• Experience working within EN ISO 13485 or ISO 9001 quality systems\n\nQualifications\n\n• Degree in Electronics Engineering\n\n• 3–5 years of industrial experience in electronics and firmware design\n\nDesirable Experience\n\n• Working with Far East suppliers\n\n• Regulatory knowledge: CE directives, MDR, EMC, RED, LVD\n\n• App development for iOS/Android\n\nPerks\n\n• Competitive salary\n\n• Discretionary bonus scheme\n\n• 25 days holiday + bank holidays\n\n• Enhanced parental leave\n\n• Generous product discounts\n\n• Team socials and lunches\n\n• A genuine opportunity to play a key role in a high-growth business
