Electrician Improver / Mate (Renewables Sector)

Salary: £34,000 – £38,000 per year (dependent on experience)

About the Role



This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Electrician Improver / Mate who is eager to take the next step towards becoming a fully qualified electrician.



We are delighted to be working with a leading UK-based renewable energy company that specialises in solar PV installations, maintenance, and performance monitoring. With more than 5,000 solar projects delivered nationwide, they are helping homes and businesses embrace clean, sustainable energy.



You’ll be joining an experienced and supportive team, gaining hands-on experience across a variety of renewable projects, with a clear pathway towards professional qualifications and long-term career development.



Key Responsibilities

Assist in the installation of solar PV panels on residential, commercial, and industrial roofs

Run conduit, cable trays, wiring, inverter set-ups and associated electrical tasks



*



Support commissioning, testing, and fault finding under supervision



*



Help with maintenance tasks, including panel cleaning, monitoring system performance, and routine inspections



*



Ensure all works comply with Health & Safety standards, electrical regulations, and quality requirements



*



Maintain tools, equipment, and materials; keep work areas tidy



*



Travel to different sites across Peterborough and the surrounding area



What We’re Looking For



*



Some basic electrical experience is (e.g. as an electrician’s mate, trainee, or in a related construction/electrical trade)

A good understanding of electrical fundamentals (wiring, safe working practices, use of tools, etc.)



*



Desire and commitment to train and work towards becoming a fully qualified electrician



*



Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work in a team



*



Comfortable working at height, outdoors, and in varied weather



*



Good communication skills



*



Valid UK driver’s licence is advantageous
