Electrician (Industrial) – Union Role
Location: Plattsburgh, NY
A leading molded fiber packaging facility in Plattsburgh, NY is seeking a hands-on Industrial Electrician to join their team. This is a union position within a fast-paced, heavy industrial manufacturing environment, supporting production through electrical troubleshooting, maintenance, and installation work.
Compensation & Schedule
- $35.70/hour (increasing to $36.77/hour in August)
- Union position – pay is non-negotiable
- 2-2-3 rotating schedule (12-hour shifts)

- 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Candidates must be comfortable with extended shifts and rotating schedules
Position Overview
This is not an entry-level or “learn-on-the-job” electrician role. We are looking for experienced, hands-on industrial technicians who are comfortable working on the plant floor and troubleshooting real-time production issues.
The ideal candidate brings a strong background in industrial electrical systems, with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues quickly and safely in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair 3-phase motors and industrial electrical systems
- Install, bend, and run conduit (day-one expectation)
- Work with PLCs (Allen-Bradley ), VFDs, and control systems
- Utilize tools such as multimeters for diagnostics
- Perform work in compliance with LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures
- Support maintenance of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Collaborate with operations to minimize downtime and improve efficiency
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment
- Strong, hands-on electrical troubleshooting experience
- Experience working with 3-phase systems, motors, and controls
- Ability to bend/run conduit independently
- Working knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, and electrical testing tools
- Understanding of high-voltage environments and safety protocols (LOTO)
Backgrounds
- Maintenance Technicians with strong electrical focus
- Industrial Electricians from manufacturing, packaging, or similar environments
- Candidates with real-world installation and floor experience (not just lab or bench work)
Apprenticeship Opportunities
- Open to apprentices with strong foundational experience
- Starting pay around $25.39/hour, with progression through union pay scales
