Electrician (Industrial) – Union Role
Location: Plattsburgh, NY

A leading molded fiber packaging facility in Plattsburgh, NY is seeking a hands-on Industrial Electrician to join their team. This is a union position within a fast-paced, heavy industrial manufacturing environment, supporting production through electrical troubleshooting, maintenance, and installation work.

  • $35.70/hour (increasing to $36.77/hour in August)
  • Union position – pay is non-negotiable
  • 2-2-3 rotating schedule (12-hour shifts)
    • 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Candidates must be comfortable with extended shifts and rotating schedules

Position Overview

This is not an entry-level or “learn-on-the-job” electrician role. We are looking for experienced, hands-on industrial technicians who are comfortable working on the plant floor and troubleshooting real-time production issues.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in industrial electrical systems, with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues quickly and safely in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair 3-phase motors and industrial electrical systems
  • Install, bend, and run conduit (day-one expectation)
  • Work with PLCs (Allen-Bradley ), VFDs, and control systems
  • Utilize tools such as multimeters for diagnostics
  • Perform work in compliance with LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures
  • Support maintenance of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Collaborate with operations to minimize downtime and improve efficiency

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Strong, hands-on electrical troubleshooting experience
  • Experience working with 3-phase systems, motors, and controls
  • Ability to bend/run conduit independently
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, and electrical testing tools
  • Understanding of high-voltage environments and safety protocols (LOTO)

Backgrounds

  • Maintenance Technicians with strong electrical focus
  • Industrial Electricians from manufacturing, packaging, or similar environments
  • Candidates with real-world installation and floor experience (not just lab or bench work)

Apprenticeship Opportunities

  • Open to apprentices with strong foundational experience
  • Starting pay around $25.39/hour, with progression through union pay scales

What We’re Looking For

We’re prioritizing quality over quantity. Candidates must be able to clearly explain real-world troubleshooting scenarios, especially involving 3-phase motors and production equipment. This role requires individuals who can step in and contribute immediately in a demanding industrial setting.
