Job Description
We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical System Technical Lead to join our clients Electrical Systems Team in Peterborough focused on designing, developing and validating a range of battery pack and electrical systems for a variety of applications. \n\n12 month contract\n\n37 hours a week. Monday to Thursday 08:30 - 16:45, Friday 08:30 - 16:00 (45 min lunch break)\n\nPay - £30.65 - £35.65 per hour\n\nJob Responsibilities and Duties:\n\nAs the Electrical System Technical Lead you will lead the detailed specification, design collaboration with key suppliers, definition of detailed requirements based on key program objectives and risk assessments (FMEA's) of the electrical system including high voltage and low voltage subsystems.
These systems include battery cell to module, module to pack, pack to power system and power system to electrified machine. \nYou will act as the electrical system architect and lead activities to be completed by the team which include 3D CAD design (CREO), schematics, harnessing, cable design and routing and electrical system validation.\nYou will need to ensure robust technical and timing plans are in place for current and future hardware requirements\nYou will oversee component specification, leveraging your expertise and question/critique supplier selections accordingly\nYou will develop and own electrical system schematics, high voltage and control circuits, and ensure clarity and alignment with the battery system, power system and machine system.\nYou will collaborate with the validation team to ensure validation requirements and test plans at internal and external labs meet the needs of your validation plans and with the software team to ensure compatibility and alignment.\nYou should have a good appreciation of CPPD and APQP and what is needed to manage a complex component with a supply base for prototype and production level material\nOwn the resolution of development issues as they arise and keep issue tracking systems up to date with progress and plans\nContribute to the identification of electrical system requirements and their maintenance through projects, and key technical information necessary for successful use by customers in the end application\nIdentify and request simulation/VPD tasks to help drive right-first-time, these may be from internal resources or from the component supplier\nThe successful candidate will serve as an experienced contributor on projects and assignments that are complex in nature, working with individuals and teams across multiple business units in the UK, US, India and China.\nDevelop and maintain a keen understanding of internal and external customers' needs\nKeep up to date on power electronic technologies, testing techniques and legislation requirementsRequired Qualifications/Experience:\n\nAn accredited Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering subject\nRelevant industrial experience in electrical system design and development\nExperience of electric vehicle electrical system design and development (eg fuse, contactor and cable selection)\nGood problem solving and planning skills\nAbility to think strategically whilst maintaining focus on near term deliverables\nExperience of CPPD and APQP\nKnowledge of heavy-duty machine applications\n6-sigma experience, or equivalent structured problem solving techniques\nExperience of Automotive software tools \nExperience of serial communication networks \nExperience in designing and testing to meet EMC legislationIf you are interested please apply, we are actively interviewing with our client for this role\n\nPlease note we are unable to sponsor visas for this role. \n\nRandstad Business Support is acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy
