Job Description:
The Electrical Supervisor will oversee and manage electrical maintenance and construction projects within a heavy industrial, underground facility. This role is responsible for planning, developing, and maintaining the electrical power distribution network and control systems that support large-scale operations. The successful candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise in both low and medium voltage systems, and a proven commitment to safety and operational reliability.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and coordinate the work of electricians and electrical technicians performing maintenance and construction activities.
- Develop, implement, and maintain site electrical power distribution systems to ensure reliable and efficient power delivery.
- Design, install, and maintain control circuits for heavy industrial equipment.
- Lead electrical projects from initiation through completion, managing timelines, budgets, contractors, and quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations and foster a strong culture of safety within the team.
- Provide training, mentorship, and performance evaluations to electrical staff.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical system issues to minimize downtime and maintain production continuity.
- Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance, project progress, and system performance.
- Identify opportunities for system improvements, reliability enhancements, and cost savings.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline required.
- Journeyman electrician license required; Master Electrician license strongly .
- Experience with low voltage (<1,000V) and medium voltage (1,000V–35,000V) systems; facility operates at 12,460V.
- Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in an industrial or heavy manufacturing environment; underground or mining experience a plus.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, and controls; PLC/controls experience .
- Demonstrated leadership ability with experience developing and managing teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills with proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and promoting a safety-first culture.
- Willingness to sponsor qualified candidates through TN1 program for cross-border relocation (Canada to U.S.).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to wear PPE (steel-toed shoes, hard hat, safety glasses, harness, electrical safety gear).
- Ability to work safely in varying temperatures, both underground and above ground, year-round.
- Capable of lifting and carrying 50+ lbs and performing physical activities including climbing, crawling, bending, stooping, and reaching as required.
