Boden Group deliver facilities maintenance services, project construction and refurbishment works to the Ministry of Defence and commercial clients at multiple sites in the South West and South East.\nWe’re looking for an experienced Facilities or M&E Supervisor to lead an electrical maintenance team at HMNB Portsmouth.\nWhile you don’t need to be electrically qualified yourself, you’ll need solid experience managing technical teams in a facilities or building services environment. You’ll oversee the delivery of planned, reactive and remedial works, manage small projects, and take responsibility for safety, performance and client relationships.\nThis role is based at HMNB Portsmouth.\nWe offer:\n * 37 hour working week with an early finish on Fridays.\n * 33 days holiday (inclusive of Bank Holidays).\n * Option to Buy/Sell up to 5 days holiday per year.\n * Employee rewards platform with discounts on shopping, leisure activities and utilities.\n * Employee assistance program offering free counselling sessions and employee wellbeing portal.\n * Cycle to Work scheme.\nKey Responsibilities:\nThis is a leadership role overseeing an electrical maintenance team – while you won’t need to carry out electrical works yourself, you will need to understand how to manage and coordinate technical service delivery in this space.\n * Take a leading role in the efficient scheduling and delivery of planned, reactive and remedial maintenance activities across the site.\n * Oversee additional works projects up to £25,000 (occasionally up to £100,000), ensuring delivery on time and within budget.\n * Be the main point of contact for customer enquiries related to works under your control, ensuring clear communication and strong working relationships.\n * Ensure labour, parts, materials, and tools are in place to meet delivery targets and KPIs.\n * Focus on continuous improvement , increasing team productivity, optimising use of resources, and identifying areas for greater efficiency.\n * Maximise use of in-house labour where possible through effective planning and upskilling.\n * Undertake quality assurance inspections on works in progress and completed jobs to ensure they meet required standards.\n * Report on performance, improvement actions, and key metrics as required by management.\n * Promote a proactive safety culture , reviewing risk assessments, method statements, and carrying out safety inspections and audits.\n * Support ISO 9001 processes and adherence to internal quality management systems.\nPeople Management:\n * Line-manage a team of engineers, supporting them to deliver safe, effective, and high-quality work.\n * Identify training needs and support skills development to enhance team capability.\n * Handle local people management processes including performance reviews, absence management, recruitment, and employee welfare.\n * Maintain the call-out rota and deliver regular toolbox talks to support communication and safety culture.\nProject Oversight:\n * Support the scoping, costing and delivery of minor project works including life-cycle replacements and client-requested works.\n * Ensure all project activities are planned, resourced, and delivered in line with contract and safety requirements.\n * Monitor project progress and provide updates, reports, and recovery plans as needed to ensure targets are met.\nSkills & Experience:\n * Proven supervisory or team leadership experience in facilities management, M&E, or building services environments\n * Strong understanding of planned/reactive maintenance processes\n * Experience managing both directly employed staff and subcontractors\n * Confident overseeing small works projects (up to £25k–£100k in value)\n * Familiarity with health & safety management, RAMS, and audit processes\n * IOSH Managing Safely (or willingness to complete)\nWe actively encourage applications from all sections of the community, including carers, care leavers, people with disabilities, those not in education, employment or training (NEETs), and individuals from disadvantaged or underrepresented backgrounds.
