Sterling Engineering is partnering with a leading industrial equipment manufacturer to hire an Electrical Project Engineer. This role focuses on the electrical design and modernization of crane control systems, supporting projects from initial design through testing, commissioning, and startup. The position offers hands-on engineering work, project ownership, and exposure to modern automation and motor control technologies.
Responsibilities
- Design and support electrical control systems for overhead and portal crane modernization projects
- Develop electrical schematics, system layouts, and control architectures
- Select electrical components and hardware for motion and motor control systems
- Program and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems and automation networks
- Support testing, commissioning, and startup activities
- Create and maintain system documentation and drawings
- Manage engineering tasks in alignment with project schedules and budgets
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and project teams throughout the project lifecycle
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required
- 2+ years of experience in electrical or automation engineering
- Strong background in motor control systems, including VFDs and electromagnetic devices
- PLC programming experience required
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and vendor drawings
- Experience with industrial automation, controls, or motion systems
