Electrical Power System Designer

What you Get to Do!

The Electrical Power System Designer is a key team member working in collaboration with engineers, project managers, and operations & maintenance teams. The role focuses on developing commercial and industrial power systems and finding electrical solutions for optimal performance. The ideal candidate should be capable of working independently, self-motivated, and possess excellent communication skills. The company values continuous improvement and expects the Designer to provide insights for optimizing processes and designs.

·         Design engineering drawings for permitting, estimating, and construction.

·         Conduct studies on coordination, grounding, lightning, arc flash, and short circuit.

·         Coordinate electrical designs with utilities, vendors, and suppliers.

·         Develop electrical protection systems and work with various test equipment.

·         Participate in HAZOP and design review studies.

·         Support operations with safety systems, troubleshooting, and optimization.

·         Interact with various engineering disciplines and departments.

·         Develop knowledge of ISA, NFPA, UL, safety codes, and fire codes.

·         Prepare specifications and technical reports.

·         Commit to improving and promoting quality in all work.

·         Willingness to travel 20-25% annually.

What You Will Bring:

·         Journeyman Electrician, Power System Designer with 4 years of experience, or a 4-year degree in electrical engineering.

·         Exceptional organizational skills and deadline adherence.

·         Experience in setting up, programming, and overseeing electrical equipment testing.

·         Basic AutoCAD skills for developing electrical system drawings.

·         Effective communication and teamwork skills.

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

·         Preferred Qualifications

·         Minimum 4 years of experience in electrical power system design.

·         Knowledge of the National Electrical Code.

·         Experience with PLC control systems, relay coordination, and arc flash analysis.

·         Familiarity with facility UPS systems, generator design, NETA Testing.

·         Proficiency with specific electrical protection products and software.
