- Troubleshoots and diagnoses electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic system malfunctions or failures in production equipment, determining the most effective repair methods and performing corrective maintenance.
- Installs and repairs electrical systems, wiring, and electronic components of industrial machinery using schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and electrical codes.
- Uses hand tools, power tools, welding, soldering, and electrical/electronic test equipment to repair, modify, and maintain equipment.
- Repairs and maintains mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components by following technical drawings and schematics.
- Performs dismantling, replacement of defective parts, and reassembly of machines and equipment.
- Conducts preventive maintenance on all machines, equipment, and facility systems, including lighting, plumbing, and building repair.
- Inspects equipment and work areas regularly to ensure safety, quality, and compliance with NEC, NFPA, OSHA, and other applicable codes.
- Keeps work areas clean, organized, and safe; performs other related duties as required, which may include assignments outside of primary classification.
Skills & Knowledge
- High school diploma or technical school certification (or equivalent practical experience).
- Four or more years of related experience in industrial maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of setup, operation, and maintenance of various machinery and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
- Proficient with hand tools, power tools, precision measuring devices, and electrical/electronic test equipment.
- Working knowledge of technical math related to electricity, electronics, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
- Effective verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Workmanship: Performs skilled electrical and mechanical maintenance duties, including complex repairs requiring problem-solving and decision-making. Works with minimal supervision.
- Materials/Products: Exercises close care to avoid waste, scrap, or damage to materials and finished products.
- Equipment: Maintains and safeguards all equipment to prevent damage and ensure reliability.
- Safety: Exercises considerable care to prevent serious or disabling injuries, particularly when working with high-voltage electrical systems and heavy machinery.
Effort
- Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, overhead work, and use of impact and hand tools.
- Constant reaching, handling, stooping, and hearing requirements.
- Occasional crawling, kneeling, and climbing.
- Must have near/far visual acuity and perception.
- Physical demands include lifting/carrying up to 100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, and 20 lbs constantly.
Working Conditions
- Heated, ventilated shop environment with occasional exposure to dirt, grease, extreme heat in summer, and outdoor conditions.
- Frequent exposure to hazards such as machinery, electrical systems, and equipment that could result in serious injury if safety procedures are not followed.
- Required PPE: hard hat, goggles, hearing protection, and steel-toed footwear.
