We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Electrical Maintenance Supervisor to oversee all mechanical and electrical maintenance projects in our manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all mechanical and electrical systems, including power distribution, automation, hydraulics, pneumatics and control systems. The candidate needs to have strong electrical and PLC experience.
Requirements:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and execute preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems, motors, transformers, and power distribution equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults in high and low voltage systems, PLCs, VFDs, and automated production equipment.
- Support startup and commissioning of new equipment from a controls perspective by verifying functionality in coordination with other operations and engineering team members. Verify data exchange, command and control infrastructure, safety interlocks and more.
- Program, test, and validate proper alarms, annunciation, safety interlock behaviors, redundancy fail-over strategies and other plant safety and downtime avoidance techniques aimed at maximizing safety while increasing uptime and preventing damage to expensive machinery.
- Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal electrical codes, as well as company safety policies.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support facility upgrades and new equipment installations.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and electrical documentation (e.g., schematics, single-line diagrams).
- Monitor and manage inventory of spare parts and equipment.
- Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in shutdown planning and execution.
- Plan and oversee all PM's throughout all operations.
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance staff including Electricians and Maintenance Technicians.
- Train and mentor electrical and mechanical technicians to ensure technical competence and safety awareness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (management or technical) with 5 years of direct experience in electrical or equivalent field of study and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Personal Computer System Skills required (MS Office Suite , AutoCAD)
- Excellent practical knowledge of electrical engineering principles in the context of industrial applications, including design for power ranging from 50mA 24VDC control circuits to three phase 480VAC driving 500hp motors with VFDs.
- Thorough working knowledge of all applicable regulatory codes and standards.
- Application of superb problem-solving skills, root cause analysis and willingness to take a hands-on approach to troubleshooting process control hardware and software. Ability to work side-by-side with operations personnel.
Skills and Competencies
- Extremely proficient and knowledgeable regarding lock-out tag-out policy, OSHA, NFPA, PPE regulations and all applicable best practice regarding safe electrical work.
- Must be willing to work altered schedules/weekends/overtime as needed to support the business
- Must be highly safety conscious and fully committed to a safety-first work culture.
- Must be able to work well with all levels of personnel whether individually or in a team environment and especially must be able to interface and communicate with different levels of management.
- Ability to read and interpret legacy plant electrical engineering diagrams and schematics associated with relay control systems and analog instrumentation.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
- Commitment to read and act on instructions from MSDS/SDS; Confined Space, LO/TO and Arc Flash Procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
