Electrical Maintenance Engineer

This is a hands-on Electrical Maintenance Engineer position in a fast-moving food production environment where reliability and practical fault-finding matter most.
This Electrical Maintenance Engineer role sits within a busy food manufacturing operation, supporting production equipment to keep downtime to a minimum. The focus is on reactive and planned electrical maintenance, fault-finding under pressure, and keeping lines running safely and efficiently. You’ll be trusted to work independently, make sound decisions on the shop floor, and take ownership of your area without unnecessary micromanagement.
Job Responsibilities
Carry out reactive electrical fault-finding on production and packaging machinery
Complete planned preventative maintenance to minimise unplanned downtime
Diagnose electrical faults across motors, panels, sensors, inverters and control systems
Support mechanical engineers where required during breakdowns
Maintain electrical safety standards and ensure compliance with site procedures
Record maintenance activity accurately using site systems
Support equipment changeovers and production start-ups
Escalate recurring faults and contribute to practical improvement actions
Skills and Experience
Proven experience as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer within a manufacturing or food production environment
Strong electrical fault-finding capability on industrial machinery
Electrical qualifications such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent
Comfortable working in a hands-on, production-led environment
Ability to work independently on shift and prioritise workload effectively
Practical, no-nonsense approach to maintenance and problem solving
Pay and Benefits
Salary up to £45,000 depending on experience
Monday to Friday working pattern
Initial shift of 6am–2pm
Transition to permanent late shift 2pm–10pm
Overtime opportunities subject to business needs
