Electrical Estimator/Project Manager

McQuaig Electric is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator/Project Manager to join our growing team. We are looking for a detail-oriented, organized individual with a strong understanding of electrical construction who can accurately estimate projects, prepare competitive proposals, and help us continue to grow profitably.

The ideal candidate has hands-on knowledge of the electrical trade and understands the labor, materials, and planning required to complete electrical projects efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Review electrical plans, specifications, scopes of work, and bid documents
  • Perform detailed material and labor takeoffs
  • Prepare accurate estimates for commercial, residential, remodel, and service-related projects
  • Obtain and review pricing from electrical suppliers and subcontractors
  • Prepare professional proposals and bid packages
  • Identify potential scope gaps, exclusions, conflicts, and opportunities before submitting bids
  • Estimate labor hours based on project conditions and expected production rates
  • Track upcoming bids and ensure proposals are completed by required deadlines
  • Communicate with general contractors, customers, vendors, project managers, and field personnel as needed
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits when necessary
  • Review awarded projects with project management and field teams to ensure a smooth handoff
  • Help maintain accurate estimating costs, labor rates, material pricing, and historical job data
  • Review completed projects and compare estimated versus actual labor and material costs to improve future estimates
  • Assist management in identifying profitable projects and bidding opportunities

Qualifications

  • Electrical construction experience strongly
  • Previous electrical estimating experience
  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents
  • Strong understanding of electrical materials, equipment, and installation methods
  • Knowledge of NEC requirements and common electrical construction practices
  • Ability to accurately estimate labor and material requirements
  • Strong computer and organizational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines at the same time
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently

Experience

Experience estimating any of the following is a plus:

  • Commercial electrical construction
  • Residential new construction and remodels
  • Tenant build-outs and renovations
  • Electrical service upgrades and panel replacements
  • Generator installations
  • EV charger installations
  • Lighting and lighting controls
  • Electrical service and repair work
