An established electrical contractor in Lenexa is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to support project planning and execution through accurate cost analysis and comprehensive bid development. The Electrical Estimator will interpret blueprints and specifications, prepare detailed scope letters, conduct takeoffs using Accubid or similar platforms, and collaborate with project managers to ensure cost accuracy across all project phases.

Key Responsibilities – Electrical Estimator
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial and industrial electrical projects including plan-spec and design-build
- Perform quantitative takeoffs from blueprints, specifications, and technical documents using Accubid/Anywhere or equivalent software
- Write and review scope letters to clarify project requirements and exclusions
- Request and evaluate material and equipment quotes from vendors and suppliers
- Attend pre-bid meetings and job site walk-throughs to assess field conditions that may impact pricing
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure all cost aspects are accurately evaluated and documented
- Analyze project risk, labor requirements, and material costs to maintain competitive bid pricing
- Apply NEC 2020 (and prior editions) and engineering best practices to all estimate reviews
- Maintain organized estimate files and generate bid summaries for internal review and client submission
Qualifications – Electrical Estimator
- Minimum 5 years of electrical estimating experience including design-build projects
- Demonstrated experience with industrial and commercial plan-spec and design-build electrical work
- Deep understanding of industry standards, construction practices, and current market conditions
- Proficiency with Accubid/Anywhere or comparable electrical estimating software
- Strong knowledge of NEC 2020 code and earlier editions, with ability to apply code requirements to cost estimates
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation, analysis, and reporting
- Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings accurately
- Experience writing and reviewing scope letters and bid proposals
- Team-oriented mindset with strong communication and collaboration skills
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently and find solutions under deadlines
Qualifications – Electrical Estimation Professional
- Experience with Trimble LiveCount or other graphical takeoff tools
- Familiarity with project management software and bid tracking systems
- Background in electrical contracting or field experience
- Professional certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE)
- Advanced Excel skills including formulas, pivot tables, and macros
Physical Requirements – Electrical Estimator
- Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for extended periods
- Occasional site visits requiring walking, standing, and navigating construction environments
- Ability to lift and carry project documents, rolled blueprints, and equipment up to 25 pounds
- Visual acuity to review detailed technical drawings and specifications on-screen and in print
- Manual dexterity for operating computer, phone, and office equipment
