Our client, a highly respected Mechanical & Electrical contractor, is looking to appoint an Electrical Estimator to join their expanding team in Cambridge. The business delivers high-quality building services solutions across a range of sectors, providing full design-to-installation services supported by an experienced team of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.\nThe Opportunity\nAs an Electrical Estimator, you will play a key role within the pre-construction team, producing accurate and commercially competitive estimates while supporting the successful delivery of tenders from initial enquiry through to project handover.\nThis is an excellent opportunity to join a stable and reputable business that offers long-term career development within a collaborative and supportive environment.\nKey Responsibilities\n * Liaise with clients and main contractors throughout the tender process\n * Attend site surveys to gather information required for accurate pricing\n * Prepare detailed and competitive cost estimates for electrical works\n * Review employer requirements and identify any risks, unusual conditions, or commercial concerns\n * Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations\n * Build and maintain strong supply chain relationships\n * Use estimating software to input and manage project data\n * Produce cost comparison reports and tender adjudication documentation\n * Prepare risk and opportunity schedules for commercial review\n * Support the Bid Manager during all stages of the tender process\n * Ensure smooth and structured handover of successful projects to the operations team\nSkills & Experience Required\n * Proven experience producing fixed-price electrical estimates across design stages 2–4\n * Strong understanding of electrical design and the ability to review drawings/specifications for accuracy and compliance\n * Experience using estimating software packages\n * Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office\n * Excellent communication and organisational skills\n * Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively\n * Strong attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines\nBennefits:\n * Package salary of £55,000 – £70,000 depending on experience\n * Company car or car allowance\n * Fuel card provided\n * Company pension scheme\n * Ongoing professional development and career progression opportunities\n * Long-term stability with a well-established and growing contractor\n * Supportive and collaborative team environment\n * Exposure to a wide range of high-profile projects across multiple sectors\n * Annual leave plus bank holidays\n * Laptop and mobile phone provided\n * Opportunity to progress into senior commercial or pre-construction leadership roles\nIf you are looking for a long-term opportunity with a respected contractor that values quality, collaboration, and career progression, we would love to hear from you
