We are urgently hiring for Electrical Estimator in the Mesa/Apache Junction area. This position is a Full Time, Direct Hire Opportunity offering great benefits and room for growth.
Pay Range: $90K- $130K depending upon experience.
Position Summary:
The Construction Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive estimates for industrial and commercial electrical projects ranging from small T&M work to multi-million-dollar lump sum and negotiated projects.
This role is for an estimator who takes ownership of bids, operates with minimal supervision, and applies sound judgment in fast-moving or ambiguous preconstruction environments. The estimator is expected to balance accuracy, speed, and risk while supporting successful project execution from bid through handoff.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare complete electrical estimates including labor, material, equipment, subcontracted work, and indirect costs
- Perform quantity takeoffs for electrical systems including conduit, wire, panels, fixtures, instrumentation, controls, and low-voltage systems
- Develop full cost models using standardized and custom labor units as appropriate
- Solicit, review, and level vendor and subcontractor pricing
- Evaluate project logistics including access, hoisting, temporary power, manpower loading, and site constraints
- Develop scopes of work, inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications
- Support hard bid, negotiated, design-build, and construction manager delivery methods
- Assist with conceptual estimating, early budgets, and pricing models
- Participate in bid reviews and pricing strategy discussions with leadership
- Support estimate revisions and change order pricing post-award when required
- Participate in post-bid and post-job reviews to improve estimating accuracy
- Maintain organized bid files, documentation, and estimate backups
Estimating Tools and Systems:
- HeavyBid experience a plus
- Advanced Excel skills required
- Experience with Accubid, Bluebeam, or similar tools
- ERP familiarity , Sage experience a plus but not required
Minimum Qualifications:
- Three to five or more years of electrical estimating experience
- Experience estimating industrial and or commercial electrical projects
- Ability to own estimates from initial takeoff through final submission
- Strong understanding of labor productivity, materials, equipment, and indirect costs
- Proficient with estimating software and Microsoft Office tools
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision
Qualifications:
- Field experience in electrical construction
- Experience estimating instrumentation, controls, and low-voltage systems
- Experience supporting design-build or construction manager delivery methods
- Ability to identify risk and propose pricing or scope strategies
Equivalent combinations of education, technical training, and experience will be considered.
Performance Expectations:
In the first 90 days, the estimator is expected to produce accurate, well-supported estimates, integrate effectively with project teams, and demonstrate sound judgment and professionalism.
Long-term success is defined by competitive win rates, strong gross profit performance, continuous improvement in estimating accuracy, and the ability to operate effectively in evolving or uncertain conditions. Accuracy and speed are both important, and the ability to balance the two is critical.
Schedule and Working Conditions:
- Hybrid role with required office presence
- Typical workload 40 to 50 hours per week during active bid periods
- Travel required for site walks and project support
- Office-based role with frequent computer and document review
