Electrical Estimator
Job Description
About the Job-
Are you an electrician or electrical professional who’s ready to take the next step in your career? At Jamail & Smith Construction, we’re offering an exciting opportunity to make the move from the field into the general contracting world as an Electrical Estimator.
In this role, you’ll leverage your electrical knowledge while learning the broader side of construction estimating—reviewing blueprints, analyzing costs, collaborating with subcontractors, and preparing bids. You’ll also gain exposure to project management and general contracting operations, giving you the tools to build a long-term career beyond the field.
The Team-
We’re a team of builders, problem-solvers, and collaborators who love what we do. The Jamail & Smith crew brings energy and expertise to every project, and we’re passionate about helping each other grow. You’ll have the chance to learn from experienced general contractors while contributing your own electrical expertise to strengthen the team.
The Opportunity-
This isn’t just another estimating role—it’s a career pivot opportunity. We’re looking for someone with a strong electrical background who’s excited to expand into estimating and general contracting. You’ll be supported with training, mentorship, and real project experience as you build the skills needed to succeed in preconstruction, estimating, and beyond.
What You’ll Do
- Apply your electrical knowledge to review drawings, specs, and proposals.
- Perform take-offs and prepare accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, and subcontracted work.
- Learn and apply estimating software such as RS Means, Bluebeam and E4Clicks.
- Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to gather competitive pricing.
- Support project teams during the transition from estimate to construction.
- Gain exposure to general contracting practices and procedures.
What You Bring To The Table-
- Electrical background—licensed electrician, field experience, or related work.
- 2+ years of construction industry experience (field or office).
- Eagerness to learn estimating and general contracting.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work as part of a team.
- Familiarity with estimating or construction software (Procore, E4Clicks) is a plus, but not required—we’ll train you!
