Job Description

Code Engineering Services Electrical Group (CES) is searching for a Electrical Estimator/Project Manager to assist with our phenomenal growth. CES is a union electrical contractor serving Chicagoland for the past 33 years. We focus on Power, Lighting, Video Security and Communications projects in the public and commercial sectors. The individual we seek is well experienced with estimating and managing electrical construction projects. The projects will vary in size and will be public sector projects that require union electricians. These projects will be in various market segments including; Water Treatment, Waste Water, Transportation, Government and Education. The successful candidate will lead in creating job estimates from start to finish, plan the awarded work, execute the awarded project, monitor and control the project, and finally close the project out with the assistance of other departments.
The Electrical Estimator/Project Manager is the single point of accountability for the delivery of the project including scope review, costing, supplier selection and scheduling. The position also includes maintaining and improving client relationships. Project sizes will typically range from $400,000 to $5.0MM.

Your ability to accurately determine scope and pricing of a project, manage a project and it’s direct budget has a direct impact on the profitability of Code Engineering Services Electrical Group. Some of the primary duties, responsibility and accountability items are:
Responsible for representing the CES to its client(s) and prospective client(s) at project bid meetings, project reviews and walk-thrus.
•\tInitiate and maintain liaison with client to facilitate project activities, including assessing scope of work and resources required to successfully complete the project.
•\tIn accordance with the client's specifications, establishes project objectives, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of corporate policy, including preparing complete estimate for selected project with a detailed review of proposal specs and drawings.
•\tThoroughly understand customer’s needs through communication to provide confidence in scope and execution abilities.
•\tComplete accurate take-off of materials from reading plans and specs, with the vision to relate this to project realities.
•\tThrough leadership and time management skills, complete projects within bid time constraints.
•\tAssemble legible, comprehensive, accurate and meaningful project estimate details (take-offs) with respect to each and every project worked on. Estimating activity may include several projects simultaneously.
•\tDraft comprehensive and detailed project schedules to be utilized as an overall project scheduling, management and tracking tool. (MS Project).
•\tInitiate and/or maintain extra work estimating and issuance of change orders related to assigned projects. Manage, monitor and complete change orders for all contract changes.
•\tWork with the business development team to identify and meet with potential clients.
•\tAssist in continual development and implementation of processes, systems and strategies to ensure the continuous improvement of teams, quality and overall project performance.
•\tResponsible for managing a given project and team including Foreman and Journeyman

Desired Qualifications:
•\tUnderstand the importance of putting the client first and treating the client as you would want to be treated.
•\tStrong working knowledge of electrical construction means, methods, tools, materials, equipment, NECA labor units, City of Chicago Electrical Code
•\tExperience using ConEst, EBM or Accubid estimating software.
•\tDemonstrated ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize performance.
•\tExcellent oral and written communication skills; good computer skills including MS Project, Word and Excel.
•\tGood technical writing skills are required specifically noting construction proposal documents, scope of work documents, and client presentation packages.
•\tAbility to understand project scheduling and man-power loading.
•\tDetailed knowledge of electrical construction methods in the areas of Power, Lighting, Video Security and Communications
•\tAbility to lead pre-construction activities on major and minor projects
•\tSelf-starter/self leadership to complete projects within bid time constraints (time management)
•\tAbility to work well under pressure.
