Electrical Engineer

We are currently searching for an Electrical Engineer to join our team!

The Company: Ericson Manufacturing engineers and manufactures temporary power, lighting and safety electrical products for your workplace. General Purpose: Responsibility for production engineering, sustaining engineering, enhancements to existing products and new product development. Provides customer service in the form of technical support to both sales and end users. Works to maximize production through improved production processes. Designs products for compliance to UL, CSA, NEC, and CEC standards. Works with UL, CSA and ETL regulatory agencies to achieve & maintain product certification.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates requests by customer or sales team(s) for modification to existing products or requests for new product development.
  • Researches concepts for new product development that will meet customer needs and provide competitive advantage in the market.
  • When product is to be modified or a new product to be developed, creates a detailed drawing of the product solution including all specification information, sizing and other relevant information using CAD computer systems.
  • May conduct or supervise tests on new or modified products to ensure performance and production feasibility.
  • Has a working knowledge of UL and/or CSA standards pertaining to Ericson products. (Ericson can train).
  • Evaluates and approves purchased parts to be used in Ericson products.
  • Writes test procedures and determines appropriate fixtures or equipment to be used in product testing. Writes clear and concise reports to document the finding of tests on product.
  • Provides input and answers questions from sales/customers on technical specification, components, function, benefits, features and use of products.
  • Evaluates customer application needs for Ericson products and determines ways to design new products, possible modification to existing products, or recommends catalogue items to meet application needs.
  • Evaluates processes, equipment and skills required to produce product efficiently and at the lowest cost.
  • Completes any required ISO9000 documentation for production engineering and/or new product development.
  • May be required to work in the lab creating prototypes, test fixturing, or performing occasional product failure analysis. Familiarity with soldering, and common benchtop tools and equipment a plus.

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, engineering technology or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years total work experience.
  • Must have had solid experience in the design of new products, implementing manufacturing processes, and providing technical support to internal and external customers.
  • Autocad proficiency (2D) is required.
  • MS Office proficiency is required.
  • Creo 11 is a plus.
  • PCB layout experience a plus. Mathcad/Matlab/Maple or similar experience a plus.
