Job Summary:This position is responsible for performing electrical engineering designs and reviewing electrical designs for natural gas pipeline facilities. The Electrical Engineer supports multiple projects concurrently by providing design expertise and technical review. This role includes leading electrical engineering aspects of projects and collaborating with designers and engineers to produce construction drawings. The ideal candidate is also open to learning other aspects of pipeline and pipeline facilities design.
Job Duties:

  • Perform electrical engineering design and review for natural gas pipeline facilities· Lead electrical engineering aspects of projects and coordinate with design teams· Design low voltage (1000 V or less) circuits and installations for pipeline equipment· Design electrical service connections from utility drop to distribution panel· Size wires and conduits appropriately for facility needs· Route conduit within facilities and buildings· Design terminations and connections for lights, switches, motors, actuators, and other equipment· Design grounding and grounding systems for pipeline facilities· Read and interpret wiring and loop diagrams for instrumentation· Generate loop diagrams for instrumentation· Apply knowledge of NFPA 70E and API RP 500 in design and review· Review site-specific requirements and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success· Support multiple projects simultaneously with a focus on quality and efficiency


Qualifications:

  • Electrical Engineering Professional Engineering (PE) License in Illinois and ability to obtain licensure in other states as needed
  • · Current or prior consulting experience at an engineering consulting firm or EPC· Medium voltage and higher voltage system knowledge· Familiarity with electrical distribution and transmission systems· Understanding of PLC systems· Knowledge of fire and gas detection systems for industrial buildings· Experience with electrical design for compressor stations· Knowledge of communication equipment such as cellular radios and network systems· Experience with arc-flash studies
