About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team and contribute to the planning, design, and project/construction management of electrical and controls systems for water facilities. This is an exciting opportunity to work on critical infrastructure projects while applying your expertise in the Electrical Code (NEC), electrical construction, and motor control center design.

Key Responsibilities:
Prepare construction drawings and technical specifications for electrical design of above- and below-ground water system facilities.
Perform advanced engineering calculations for low and medium voltage power distribution and motor control, including:
oShort circuit current calculations
oArc Flash studies
oVoltage drop calculations
oBreaker coordination studies
Prepare construction contracts, solicit and evaluate bids, and award contracts.
Specify, develop bid packages, and procure major electrical equipment.
Prepare RFPs and evaluate/select consultants or vendors.
Manage project scope, schedules, and budgets effectively.
Liaise with contractors, consultants, agencies, and internal teams.
Prepare data tables, graphs, cost estimates, justifications, and technical reports.
Interpret and review engineering construction reports and drawings.
Publish project-related documents for distribution to communities and government agencies.
Use company financial systems to monitor and control project costs.
Contribute to PUC rate case filings with cost estimates and project justifications.
Support preparation of the annual capital budget.
Provide construction management and shared field inspections at project sites.
Deliver technical support for system operations and maintenance.
Present project details to public agencies, special districts, and community groups.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Work Model and On-Site Requirements:
On-Site in one of the four listed California offices (San Jose, Bakersfield, Chico, or Torrance)
Potential hybrid schedule for the right candidate
Standard 9/80 work schedule (80 hours over 9 workdays, with every other Friday off).
Travel to project sites, community meetings, and public presentations may be required.
What We Are Looking For:
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant water utility experience.
Minimum of 2 years experience as an electrical engineer.
Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Experience with AutoCAD software and design plan development.
Valid California Drivers License.
California EIT certification or California PE registration desirable.
Detailed knowledge and experience in:
oMotor control center design
oNEC compliance
oElectrical construction practices
oConsultant and contractor coordination
oWater, wastewater, or related process industries
Attributes:
Experience in water utilities or process industries.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to present technical information effectively in public forums.
Familiarity with regulatory compliance in the water industry.
Compensation:
Salary Range (Bakersfield & Chico Area): $110,000 - $153,000 per year
Salary Range (San Jose Area): $130,000 to $170,000 per year
Contract duration: 69 months with strong potential for multi-year renewal

Benefit amounts for 2025:
Employee only: $6,600 ($550 per month)

Vacation pay: accrued on a bi-weekly basis, carryover allowed to the next year.
Vacation accrual details based on years of employment with our firm:
0-2 years: 2 weeks or 80 hours per year
3-4 years: 3 weeks or 120 hours per year
5+ years: 4 weeks or 160 hours per year
