Electrical Engineer – Power Electronics in , us

Job Description & Responsibilities

Support

production maintenance

and

field issue resolution

for power electronics products

Perform

hands-on troubleshooting

of returned field units to identify root causes of hardware failures

Conduct

component and sub-component level analysis

(PCBs, sensors, power modules)

Perform

root cause analysis

using methodologies like CPI and Fishbone analysis

Validate alternate/replacement components due to:

Obsolescence

Supplier issues

New sourcing requirements

Develop and execute

test and validation plans

with engineering teams

Work with validation teams to:

Set up test environments

Execute and analyze tests

Complete validation cycles

Document findings through:

Technical reports

Engineering documentation

Cross-functional presentations

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across engineering and manufacturing

Focus on

hardware and production support

(not software/controls)

Work under senior engineers (no people management required)

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required)

Master’s degree may substitute for some experience

Open to entry-level candidates with:

Power electronics projects or internships

experience:

High-voltage systems ( 700V+ )

Power electronics hardware

Production or field-return environments

Required Skills

Technical / Hardware

Strong knowledge of

power electronics , including:

Power inverters & traction inverters

Converter/inverter topologies (e.g., two-level inverters)

Electric drivetrain hardware experience

High-voltage, high-power circuit knowledge (700V+)

Hands-on troubleshooting and lab testing

Component-level failure analysis

Manufacturing exposure for power electronics hardware

Sub-component lifecycle & sourcing understanding

Testing & Tools

Experience with lab equipment:

Oscilloscopes

Current/voltage probes

Data loggers

Data analysis using:

Excel

MATLAB ()

Validation testing setup and execution

Engineering & Process

Root cause analysis techniques

Continuous Improvement Process (CPI)

Technical documentation and reporting

Familiarity with standards:

IPC-600 / IPC-650

IEC 60200

IEC 60664

IEC 61557 ()
