As a Professional Electrical Engineer, you will contribute your expertise in designing technical solutions for power distribution and lighting systems across institutional, retail, and commercial building projects. Your responsibilities will span the development of schematic designs, construction documents, specifications, and construction administration.

You should be capable of performing detailed electrical power and control systems design with minimal supervision. Strong technical skills, a focus on efficient system design, and the ability to optimize processes are essential. Excellent communication and leadership abilities are key, including a willingness to mentor team members and contribute to a forward-thinking, collaborative environment. This role requires self-motivated individuals who can engage positively with both internal teams and external clients.

Essential Functions

  • Design electrical systems including lighting and power distribution for commercial and institutional buildings.
  • Analyze data to assess feasibility of design and application.
  • Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, QA/QC reviews, and client expectations.
  • Create and edit designs, specifications, sketches, and diagrams.
  • Perform engineering calculations (e.g., energy, load, photometrics, voltage drop).
  • Produce coordinated, technically sound construction documents that are cost-effective and constructible.
  • Research code compliance issues and interpret codes in alignment with local authorities.
  • Conduct field observations, attend meetings, and provide design recommendations.
  • Support construction administration including shop drawing reviews, RFIs, and coordination with contractors and stakeholders.
  • Meet client schedules and internal time budgets for design and construction phases.
  • Prepare accurate written reports, documents, and technical memorandums.
  • Collaborate with architects, owners, engineers, vendors, and consultants throughout project phases.
  • Coordinate work of designers and engineers-in-training.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical power systems engineering
  • Knowledge of the Electrical Code and relevant standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
