About the Job
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer II to support the design, development, testing, and release of hybrid power and energy systems. This role focuses on owning defined electrical subsystems and contributing hands-on across the full product lifecyclefrom concept and prototyping through validation, documentation, and production support.
This is a practical, execution-focused engineering role within a manufacturing environment. It requires lab presence, attention to detail, and accountability for design quality and follow-through. This is not an entry-level or purely theoretical position.

What Youll Be Doing
Electrical Design & Development
- Design electrical power and control systems for renewable, hybrid, and ruggedized applications
- Create schematics, PCB layouts, and system-level electrical designs
- Balance performance, safety, environmental, and compliance considerations
- Own assigned electrical subassemblies within larger systems
Prototyping, Testing & Validation
- Build and evaluate prototypes in lab and manufacturing environments
- Develop and execute test plans; document results clearly
- Troubleshoot issues and implement design improvements
- Support field testing and incorporate feedback into design revisions
Documentation & Release
- Produce accurate technical documentation including schematics, BOMs, layouts, and test reports
- Ensure designs are manufacturable, serviceable, and properly released to production
- Maintain clear design history and change documentation
Collaboration & Improvement
- Work closely with mechanical, production, supply chain, and quality teams
- Participate in design reviews and peer feedback
- Support Electrical Engineer I teammates through collaboration and shared problem-solving
- Identify opportunities to improve cost, reliability, and manufacturability
Additional Responsibilities
- Support compliance with applicable standards and certifications
- Provide internal and customer technical support as needed
- Take on additional duties to support departmental and organizational goals
Travel
- Occasional travel up to 25% for field support or collaboration
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field from an ABET-accredited institution
Experience
- 24 years of experience in electrical engineering within product development, manufacturing, or power electronics environments
Required Skills
- Proficiency with SolidWorks Electrical or equivalent CAD tools
- Familiarity with simulation tools (SPICE, MATLAB, or similar)
- Experience with PCB design, prototyping, and testing
- Ability to translate requirements into manufacturable designs
- Experience developing and executing test plans
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment and basic hand tools
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Self-directed with a collaborative mindset
- Experience with solar, hybrid power, or ruggedized systems
- Familiarity with UL, NEC, IEC, ANSI, or military standards
- Exposure to EMI/RFI mitigation
- Knowledge of thermal management
- Experience with embedded systems or hardware/firmware integration
Physical Requirements
- Extended periods of desk and computer work
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds independently
- Ability to work collaboratively to move heavier items when needed
- Comfort working in lab and manufacturing environments
