Work Setting: 100% onsite in Houston, Midland, or Clyde, TX

Travel: Approximately 10–20%, primarily day trips throughout Texas with occasional travel to New Mexico

Compensation: Up to $165,000 base salary

Bonus: Discretionary annual bonus based on company and departmental performance

Position Summary

A growing engineering consulting firm is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the design and execution of electrical systems for oil & gas midstream facilities and other industrial process plants throughout Texas.

This is a hands-on engineering role responsible for designing low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems, performing electrical studies, developing construction packages, and supporting projects from concept through commissioning. The successful candidate will work closely with Process, Mechanical, Civil, Instrumentation & Controls, and Project Management teams while serving as a technical resource for clients and field personnel.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in industrial electrical design, enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, and is comfortable working on multiple projects in a fast-paced consulting environment.

What You'll Do

• Design electrical systems for compressor stations, pump stations, gas processing facilities, pipeline terminals, and other industrial process plants

• Develop one-line diagrams, electrical schematics, cable schedules, grounding plans, and construction drawings

• Perform short circuit, load flow, motor starting, protective coordination, and arc flash studies using SKM PowerTools or ETAP

• Specify electrical equipment including switchgear, MCCs, transformers, generators, VFDs, UPS systems, and power distribution equipment

• Develop hazardous area classifications and ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and API standards

• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and electrical equipment vendors throughout project execution

• Support field commissioning, client meetings, and technical issue resolution

• Review engineering deliverables and maintain quality, schedule, and project standards

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university

• 5+ years of electrical engineering experience within oil & gas, industrial, or process plant environments

• Experience designing low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems

• Hands-on experience with switchgear, MCCs, transformers, motors, VFDs, and industrial electrical equipment

• Proficiency with SKM PowerTools and/or ETAP

• Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, and API standards

• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license , or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity

• Strong communication, technical writing, and client-facing skills

Qualifications

• Oil & gas midstream engineering experience

• Experience with compressor stations, well pads, pipeline facilities, or gas processing plants

• Protective relay coordination and utility interconnection experience

• Hazardous area classification and arc flash analysis experience

• Previous engineering consulting or EPC experience

• Leadership or mentoring experience with junior engineers
