Electrical Engineer – Liquids Pump Station Projects
Location: Duluth, MN or Houston, TX
Work Type: Hybrid (Office & Field Support)
Position Overview
The Electrical Engineer will oversee and support the electrical design of liquids pump station facilities for both expansion and maintenance capital projects. This role works closely with third-party engineering firms to ensure all designs comply with applicable regulations, industry codes, and internal engineering standards while remaining aligned with project budgets and schedules.
The position also serves as a key liaison between engineering consultants, project management, operations, construction, and shared services to ensure project and organizational requirements are fully incorporated into final design deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage third-party engineering consultants to ensure design deliverables meet quality, schedule, and budget expectations
- Ensure pump station electrical designs comply with applicable regulations, industry codes, and internal engineering standards
- Design and review electrical components, systems, and interconnections
- Review and approve engineering deliverables including drawings, technical reports, and material lists
- Participate in multidisciplinary design review meetings with engineering firms, project managers, operations, and construction teams to resolve scope, performance, and constructability issues
- Review vendor quotations, perform technical evaluations, and recommend equipment selections based on technical merit, cost, and delivery schedules

- Equipment may include pumps, motors, generators, vessels, buildings, piping, valves, and fittings
- Identify, document, and communicate lessons learned and quality issues throughout the project lifecycle
- Support departmental and project initiatives as needed
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant industry experience
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and competing priorities
- Strong problem-solving skills using engineering standards, modified standards, and prior experience
- Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts and impacts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Working Conditions
- Approximately 80% office-based work supporting multiple project teams
- Approximately 20% field work including project scoping, procurement support, construction, and commissioning activities
- Fast-paced environment with time-sensitive deliverables
- Strong computer skills required, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
