Electrical Engineer (Estates Technician)

Working Pattern: On Site

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: NHS Agenda for Change Band 5

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Electricians to join a large NHS Trust's Estates & Facilities team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a complex healthcare environment, helping to maintain critical infrastructure that supports frontline patient care.

\n

Working as part of a multi-skilled Estates team, you will be responsible for delivering planned and reactive maintenance across a wide range of electrical systems and building services, ensuring essential services remain operational 24/7.

\n

Key Responsibilities:

\n

    \n
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on electrical infrastructure.
  • \n

  • Diagnose and rectify faults across a variety of electrical systems.
  • \n

  • Maintain generators, lighting and power systems, distribution boards, UPS systems, fire alarms, nurse call systems, and associated equipment.
  • \n

  • Respond to emergency breakdowns and critical incidents to minimise disruption to healthcare services.
  • \n

  • Undertake installation, refurbishment, and improvement works across the estate.
  • \n

  • Complete maintenance records and compliance documentation through CAFM systems.
  • \n

  • Liaise with contractors, colleagues, and service users to ensure works are delivered safely and efficiently.
  • \n

  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, Trust procedures, and statutory requirements.
  • \n

Ideal Candidate Profile:

\n

    \n
  • To be considered for this opportunity, you will ideally have:
  • \n

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, Electrical Maintenance, Building Services Engineering, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
  • \n

  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
  • \n

  • A completed electrical apprenticeship.
  • \n

  • Relevant City & Guilds electrical qualifications or equivalent experience.
  • \n

  • Previous experience within building services, estates maintenance, facilities management, healthcare, commercial, or industrial environments.
  • \n

  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across a wide range of electrical systems.
  • \n

  • Experience working on lighting, power, distribution boards, emergency lighting, fire alarm systems, and associated building services equipment.
  • \n

  • A sound understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work.
  • \n

  • The ability to work independently, prioritise workloads, and respond effectively to emergency breakdowns.
  • \n

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors, and service users.
  • \n
