Electrical Engineer in Burlington

Job Description

Our client, an early-stage defense technology company with products almost ready for manufacturing, is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their talented start-up team. If you are an electrical engineer with a knack for rapid prototyping, can stand up electronics, controls, instrumentation, and firmware quickly, and iterate toward hardware that works in the field, this may be a perfect role.

Responsibilities will include

  • Design, breadboard, assemble, and rapidly iterate electronics that control chemical systems, power , and field hardware
  • Integrate and build power, controls, instrumentation, harnesses, data acquisition, and test systems for benchtop and field use
  • Write/troubleshoot embedded firmware to control, monitor, and log system behavior
  • Debug prototypes across analog, digital, embedded, power, and sensor boundaries
  • Bring prototypes from the lab bench, through MIL and UL certification, to the field, and troubleshoot quickly when the system behaves differently in real conditions
  • Own active 50 W to 100 kW system development work
  • Create practical documentation: wiring diagrams, firmware notes, test procedures, parts lists, and revision notes

Background profile

  • Must be a U.S. person, , or permanent , due to export control requirements
  • BSEE with 5+ years’ experience, MSEE with 3+ years’ experience
  • Experience with embedded firmware, C, Python, microcontrollers, sensors, and data logging
  • Experience with controls, instrumentation, batteries, and energy systems
  • Bench capability: soldering, wiring, oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, test fixtures, and rapid debugging
  • A rapid-prototyping mindset: fast, resourceful, practical, and comfortable with imperfect information
  • Power conversion, batteries, hydrogen fuel cells, battery management systems, generators, or high-power DC systems
  • Experience with sensors, telemetry, data acquisition, ruggedized electronics, or field-deployable systems is helpful
  • Prior work in defense, aerospace, robotics, autonomy, controlled information, or export-controlled environments
  • Experience with HaSS and HALT reliability, MIL standard, and UL certification testing is helpful
