Pay Rate: $41.00- $50.00/hr W2 Contract 3 year duration

Electrical Engineer 2 – Birmingham, AL (Hybrid)

Role Overview

Join the Schatz Grid Visualization and Analytics Center (SGVAC) to research, test, and deploy emerging grid technologies. You will support projects focused on grid operations, power system modeling (digital twins), and "big data" analytics to enhance situational awareness for Transmission and Distribution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research & Evaluation: Develop research plans and lead efforts to assess new grid technologies.
  • Analysis: Perform power system modeling and simulation (RTDS, PSCAD, or PSS/E) and data analytics.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple tasks simultaneously, providing clear documentation, reports, and presentations.
  • Collaboration: Work within a team environment to solve complex engineering problems with limited direction.

Requirements

  • Education: Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) required.
  • Experience: 0–6 years of related experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in RTDS, PSCAD, or PSS/E is highly .
  • Desired Extras: Specialization in Power Systems; programming skills (Python, C#, SQL); data science experience; knowledge of databases and networking.
  • Soft Skills: Strong initiative (self-starter), excellent communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Travel: Occasional overnight travel required.
