Job Description
Responsibilities
- Design & Drafting: Produce detailed electrical designs and construction documents—especially low-voltage systems (e.g., power, lighting, telecom, fire alarm, data/voice, and security systems).
- Coordination: Work closely with architects and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) peers to integrate systems seamlessly.
- Code & Standards Compliance: Ensure all designs follow NEC, NFPA, relevant Georgia codes, and best engineering practices.
- Document Management: Prepare and maintain drawings in AutoCAD/Revit, specifications, and mark-ups. Track document revisions rigorously.
- Client & Contractor Interaction: Field questions and provide design clarifications during bidding and construction.
- Problem Solving: Tackle practical challenges—like conduit routing, panel scheduling, voltage drop, load calculations—without waiting for someone else to fix it.
- Project Efficiency: Balance quality and budget. Meet deadlines straight, no excuses.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in electrical design
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit or BIM experience is a plus.
- Comfortable with load calculations, panelboards, voltage drop, conduit sizing.
- Communication: Strong writing and speaking skills—be able to make your designs understood by non-engineers.
- Detail-Oriented: You must catch the little stuff—typos in schedules, incorrect symbols, missing details.
