Electrical Engineer 3 - Nuclear

This position will offer you the opportunity to utilize and expand your academic background in Electrical Engineering in a professional position that offers a wide range of interesting and challenging responsibilities.

The opportunity will have you teaming up with other engineers and designers involved in nuclear plant electrical systems betterment and associated modifications, which will include the following:

Electrical systems design

Preparation of complex calculations

Load flow and short circuit

Power flow

System Impact

Cable ampacity

Preparation of documented design inputs

Preparation of equipment and material specifications

Preparation of design reports

Additional opportunities will include:

Receive training and mentorship from experienced engineers in the execution of meaningful project engineering assignments

Become involved in power distribution designs and the preparation of specifications for the procurement of major electrical power equipment and related installation services

Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:

A BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program is required

3+ years of experience in the design of electrical power systems in a project team environment with a focus on integrated, detailed system design for new plants, or modifications or replacements for existing plants; experience should include the selection of equipment, materials, control philosophy, and the preparation and assembling of calculations and specifications

Experience is required with electrical system design including medium and low voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motors), equipment selection, and analytical calculations

Experience with serving as firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering role

Experience in reviewing design drawings created by others

Effective critical thinking and problem solving skills

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Effective working in teams and individual work

Detail oriented approach to work

Valued but not required skills and experience:

PE license

MSEE

Construction and start-up experience a plus

Experience performing transient analysis of power systems using software such as ETAP or SKM
